PAJARO, Monterey County — October 28, 2026. A county contract is intended to support security, debris removal and cleanup coordination along the Pajaro River and levee through next summer. Monterey County’s Board of Supervisors approved a services agreement with the Pajaro Regional Flood Management Agency on September 22, 2026 under legislative file A 26-382.
The agreement runs from September 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, with funding capped at $300,000 through Measure AA. It addresses coordination and support for security, trash and debris removal, abandoned vehicles, unauthorized structures and associated hazardous or unsanitary conditions along the river and levee in unincorporated Monterey County.
How the spending limit works
The adopted item authorizes the county purchasing agent or designee to execute the contract and up to three amendments that do not exceed 10% of the original agreement amount, subject to stated restrictions and legal review. Approval authorizes work under the agreement; it does not document exactly how many vehicles or tons of debris have already been removed, or guarantee that the entire $300,000 will be spent.
Why Pajaro residents should follow it
Keeping the river and levee area clear can be important for public health, environmental management and flood-risk mitigation. However, this services agreement is not the same as full construction of a levee replacement or a guarantee of flood protection. Residents should distinguish this cleanup-related contract from separate levee infrastructure projects.
